Auditions

Auditions for CinderellaAuditions for the Crighton Players are relaxed and lots of fun. They are also open, meaning players can watch their competition. New talent is always welcome.

When players arrive at an audition they will be asked to fill out an information sheet which includes basic personal information for contact purposes, a bio of performance experience and any possible upcoming scheduling conflicts. All auditioning players will be required to give a cold reading on scripts provided by the director. The director may have a player read for several different parts.

When auditioning for a musical, a player will be asked not only to read but also to sing and perform some basic dance steps. A player may sing a song from the show to be presented or any other song that reflects a similar style of the show or showcases vocal ability. An accompanist will be on hand for those who bring sheet music. A tape and CD player will also be made available for those who bring prerecorded accompaniment. If a player is auditioning for a lead in a musical they may be asked to sing some of the selections from the show especially if the lead is involved in a duet. This is to check vocal blend with the other singing character. It is also a good idea to wear appropriate shoes for easy mobility.

Rehearsal for Pump BoysThe director may ask some players to return for a call-back audition. The director will then assign roles and notify the cast.  Auditioners should not be discouraged if they are not cast. Often it is simply a matter of selecting the perfect fit not only for the part but between the other characters chosen. Sometimes there are limits to cast size. All auditioners are encouraged to audition again and again because each show in the season is different and requires different types of unique talent.

Please come and join the fun !!
