Joe Viser – Theatre Manager
Although not a board member per se, Joe is our Theatre Manager and sits in on Board meetings as an advisor. Joe is one of the original members of the Crighton Players and had the distinction of directing the first Crighton Players production performed on the Crighton Stage, The Last Meeting of the Knights of the White Magnolia. He also had the distinction of directing the first Crighton players production on the Owen Theatre stage, Wait Until Dark. Some of the shows he has directed for the Players are; Streetcar Named Desire, Lost in Yonkers, and All My Sons. Joe has also performed in many of the Players productions such as, It’s A Wonderful Life as Mr. Potter, Laura as Mr. Lydecker and he was Mr. Van Daan in Diary of Anne Frank. Joe is a published poet and lives in Shenandoah with his wife Susan.
Sue McClellan Hayes – Ex-officio (4)
As Ex Officio Sue will have the honor and duty to Chair a Committee that is charged with the responsibility for finding four replacement Board member candidates for the next election cycle. Sue has worked behind the scenes doing costumes and props for many Crighton Players productions. She has a BA and an MA in Theatre from Stephen F. Austin State University with an emphasis in costuming and directing. Sue has appeared in several Crighton Players shows including, All My Sons, Night of the Iguana, A flea in her Ear, Bad Seed, and Blithe Spirit.
Marty Craig (3)
Marty Craig has directed innumerable shows for the Crighton Players and has served on both the Players’ Board of Directors and the Crighton Foundation Board. Her most recent productions include, Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Jekyll & Hyde, South Pacific, The Music Man, Guys and Dolls, and Grease. Marty is also known for her beautiful artwork on sets. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and lives in Conroe with her husband Ron.
Jim Heffner (3)
Jim is a native Houstonian and has lived in the Conroe area with his wife Susan for over 12 years. Jim is a Texas A&M graduate and spent his career in human resources. Jim was active in drama, choir, and associated productions while in high school. He has participated in the Crighton Players productions of Camelot, Evita, Smokey Joe’s Cafe‘, My Fair Lady, Man of LaMancha, The Buddy Holly Story and Annie Get Your Gun.
Terry Lynn Hale – President (3)
Terry Lynn Hale has had a love affair with the Crighton Players for over 21 years and in that time she has worn every hat, including that of Props Mistress, Actress, Stage Manager, and Director. She is a past president and member of the Crighton Players Board of Directors. Some of her most memorable roles with the Crighton Players include Philadelphia Story as Margaret Lord, Cemetery Club as Lucille, All My Sons as Kate Keller, The Crucible as Mrs. Ann Putnam and Noises Off as Dotty Otley.
Jim Walker (3)
Jim Walker has been an integral part of the Crighton Players since 1976, during which time he has served on the Crighton Players Board of Directors, directed numerous shows, appeared in many productions, and volunteered in every other possible capacity. Oklahoma was his first show in 1976 and he also appeared in the 2006 season’s return of that stage favorite. He has directed Crighton Players production favorites such as Steel Magnolias, Arsenic and Old Lace, M*A*S*H, Smoke on the Mountain, Radio TBS, and Winnie the Pooh just to name a few. Jim is interested in the history of the Texas Revolution and is a member o the Texas Archeological Society.
Larry Calhoun (2)
Larry Calhoun has been a member of the Crighton Players for over 29 years. He has appeared in and directed many productions for the Players including Days of Wine and Roses, Jesus Christ Superstar, Camelot, Evita, Big River, Smokey Joe’s Cafe’, Man of LaMancha and The Crucible. He is a past president of the Players’ Board of Directors and is the Downtown Manager for the City of Conroe.
Vincent Roby – Treasurer (2)
Vince is a season ticket holder who is currently serving as the Program Ad committee chair. He has nver served on the Crighton Players Board, but serves as President/Treasurer of the Foundation for the Crighton Players, Inc. Vince is always there ans ready to serve in most any capacity except the stage.
Becky Teague – Secretary (2)
Becky is a longtime member of the Crighton Players. She has served on numerous committees as well as heading up intermission concession sales for a number of years. Becky has stage managed, worked lights and sound, assistant directed and directed for many shows.
Bill Torgan – President-Elect (2)
Bill is currently a play director for the Crighton Players. He is a past president of the Board of Directors and has served as chairperson for the membership and season ticket committees and well as webmaster and was instrumental in setting up the on-line ticketing and box office computer system for the Owen Theatre.
Jeffrey L. Baldwin (1)
Jeff Baldwin has appeared with the Players in Annie Get Your Gun as Frank Butler, A Few Good Men as Lt. Col. Nathan Jessep, Fiddler on the Roof as Tevye and Daddy’s Dyin’ (Who’s Got The Will). A professional Actor for more than twenty years, he is now the Director at the Texas Renaissance Festival. He has performed with Theatre Under the Stars, Houston Shakespeare Festival, Stages Repertory Theatre and Strand Street Theatre among others. Jeff has been accepted as a Play Director for the Crighton Players and we look forward to his future productions with the company.
Craig Campobella (1)
If you recognize Criag’s voice, it might be because he was the voice of Sam Houston for the PBS documentary of the life of Sam Houston. Craig has acted in several of the Crighton Players productions including Biloxi Blues, Lone Star, Exit the Body, and Arsenic and Old Lace. Craig is a professional bronze sculptor.
Jeff Elkins (1)
Jeff has been an enthusiast for community theater practically all his life. He has acted in and produced plays since childhood in Hawaii, the South Pacific, Florida, Hollywood and now here in Texas. Some of his roles with the Crighton Players include Arsenic and Old Lace, Man of LaMancha, Buddy, (the Buddy Holly Story), Scrooge, Annie Get Your Gun, and Noises Off.
Judge Kathy Hamilton (1)
Kathy has recently returned to the Crighton Players stage after about a 10 year hiatus. She has been in the Crighton Players shows Life with Father Father of the Bride, The Women, Laura, Damn Yankees, Blithe Spirit, Tartuffe, A Christmas Carol and Our Town. Kathy is a State Judge in the 359th District Court, hearing civil, felony criminal, and family matters, as well as presiding over the very successful Drug Court.
