Curtain Call
March 2010
THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS
By Larry King and Peter Masterson

Yippee!! Get ready for a wild and wooly ride at the theatre when Miss Mona and her girls meet up with Sherriff Dodd and the dreaded press. BLWT is a rowdy romp full of great Texas music and a laugh a minute. The locals, the politicians, business men and even the Aggie football team knew about the chicken ranch but nobody much cared until an overly ambitious Houston reporter upset the apple cart. Don’t miss this naughty riot! Make your reservations early by calling the Owen Theatre 936-539-4090 or go on line at crightonplayers.org. The show opens May 14th and runs thru June 6th.

AUDITIONS
Auditions for ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST will be at 7:00 PM May 16th and 17th in the rehearsal hall of the Owen Theatre. This boisterous tale is familiar to many who remember the hit movie starring Jack Nicholson. A large cast of adult men and women is needed. Randle McMurphry takes a stint in a mental hospital rather than go to prison. Once there, he interacts with the patients and shows them a world they have never known. This is a funny and touching melodrama. Come be a part of the joy of the Crighton Players.

NEWS, NOTES AND COMING ATTRACTIONS
THE CRIGHTON PLAYERS SECOND ANNUAL DINNER THEATRE features PATIO, directed by Becky Teague, with a preview of some of the music performed by cast members of BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS. PATIO is about two good ole Texas gals who are trying their darnedest to put on a nice party on the patio for their friends. Gossip and indiscretions get in the way as secrets are revealed. This very funny play pokes fun of everything that is Texas whether it is true or not. A complete barbecue dinner with all the trimmings will be served before the show and homemade desserts and coffee will be served after the show. Make your reservations NOW for April 3rd because there will only be one performance and seating is limited. The tickets are $45 and are tax deductible. YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME AT THE PARTY ON THE “PATIO”.

SEASON TICKETS ARE ON SALE so don’t miss the opportunity to get the best bang for your buck in Montgomery County by joining the CRIGHTON PLAYERS family and being here for each show. Next season is a true crowd pleaser. The hysterically funny DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS musical opens the season and is followed by a great Texas comedy, DEARLY DEPARTED. The Christmas show will be the traditionally popular A CHRISTMAS CAROL starring Scrooge and Marley and all the gang. LEADING LADIES are not ladies at all but out of work male actors trying to make a quick buck. OVER THE TAVERN is about a 1959 catholic family that is far from a Father Knows Best family. Singing Nuns keep things moving. The entire family will want to see our spring musical, the ever popular OLIVER. The season ends with an all time favorite classic, Tennessee William’s CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. Tickets are on sale at the box office so call 936-539-4090. For your convenience a Thursday night performance will be available.
