The play takes place in the sanctuary of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, located just west of Hickory near the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is Wednesday night, December 24th 1941, eighteen days after Pearl Harbor and FDR’s declaration of war.
The Sanders family first performed at Mt. Pleasant Baptist on June 15th 1938 after a five year hiatus from the Gospel Circuit. Since then, they have returned to Mt. Pleasant each year at Homecoming. This is their last performance before the war forces the group to disband.
Sanders Family Christmas, a comedy with music, uses twenty eight standard Christmas carols and Gospel songs. This is the sequel to Smoke on the Mountain, in which Pastor Mervin Oglethorpe, a young enthusiastic minister, enlists the Family Singers in his efforts to bring his tiny congregation into the modern world.
All performances will be at the Owen Theatre, 225 W. Metcalf St, downtown Conroe, home of the Crighton Players.
Show dates are November 20, 21, 27, 28, 29 and December 4, 5, 6, 11,12 and 13.

The dialogue is really funny and the music is foot-stomping infectious. I cannot imagine a better Christmas season show.
This should be a fun show to be involved in. Lots of Comedy, Lots of four and five part harmony singing.
